Synthesis of ADEM symposium on the minimum welcoming standards for unaccompanied children

On November 4 in Bern took place a National Symposium of the Alliance for Migrants Rights of Children (ADEM in French) on the theme of the minimum welcoming standards required in Switzerland. This meeting began with the finding of a more cyclical than structural problem in the light of the number of asylum applications filed by unaccompanied minors in 2015.

The conference brought together over 70 participants including unaccompanied children, institutions and NGO representatives. The numerous exchanges highlighted the need for stronger links between public authorities and civil society as well as active youth participation. ADEM will undertake in the coming months to be spokesman of these topics with the public concerned. In addition, when the CDAS recommendations will be communicated, a mapping of the support system for unaccompanied children in each canton will be performed.

ADEM's next conference will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 in Berne on the theme of reliable people.
